Appointments

You can count on Northwood Animal Hospital with your pet’s health and wellbeing as if he or she was our own pet.  As a new client/patient, your first appointment check-in process requires slightly more time than it does for our existing clients/patients.

In order to keep our appointments on time, we recommend that new clients complete a New Client Form ahead of time and bring that with you to the appointment. Please also bring all pertinent medical records and/or vaccine records that are not older than 1 year.  We even encourage you to email us this information before your appointment for an ever faster check-in. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please allow 24 hours advance notice*.

*Reschedule/cancellation fees may apply.

Patient Arrival

To ensure the comfort and safety of all of our clients and patients, all cats and dogs must be either be on a leash or in a carrier. If your pet has significant issues with fear or aggression, please let our staff know when you schedule your appointment so we can make the necessary arrangements to ensure the best experience possible for you, your pet ,and our other clients.

Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, surroundings, and other pets. This is the reason we ask you to keep your pets restrained at all times.

What to Expect

  • From the moment, you walk thru the front doors our friendly staff will welcome you and your pet with a smile! New clients will be asked to fill out a new client form in the case one was not completed online ahead of time.
  • Once your information is in our computer system, you will be asked to have a seat in our comfortable lobby area, where you can enjoy a good read, watch TV, or enjoy some good music. Within a matter of minutes, one of our vet assistants will take you and your pet to an exam room.
  • After getting your pet’s weight and some vital information such as pulse, temperature and respiration. Our vet assistant will record your pet’s medical history, as well discuss your pet’s lifestyle and any current symptoms or concerns you may have.

Depending on the appointment type, the doctor may recommend testing, procedures, and/or medications that will improve your pet’s quality of life.
  • Again, one of our goals here at Northwood Animal Hospital is to keep your pets happy, healthy, pain-free, and living as long as possible.  Our focus is on preventive medicine, parasite control, which will help achieve these things.
  • We can provide patient care plans that outline medical recommendations and their associated costs for all extensive services, major surgeries, and out of the ordinary situations. We encourage you to ask questions and communicate any concerns you may have before starting any treatment for your pet.
  • After your appointment, our doctor or vet assistant will check in with you to make sure all your questions were addressed. Some of our exam rooms have check-out capabilities, but typically we will accompany you to the reception area for check-out, where our reception team will provide you with a detailed receipt of services and products provided during your visit, as well as schedule any required follow up appointments.  At this time your pet will receive a goodie bag from our practice.
